I tried to find my beloved Necco hearts this year, but all I could find was the new, intended-to-be-improved version. The new flavors are not of my preference, and after several attempts at finding the old version, I despaired of ever tasting those good old sweet little hearts again; despaired of ever having the experience of being so full of them that I became sick and then, for some reason, craved pickles.

Then yesterday…

They were at the Dollar General store. The real, true, made-the-same-since-1902 hearts. I bought three bags. Now it’s 9:52am, half the bag is empty, and my tongue may be going numb from a sugar coma. Enough said.
